spring in the subtropics

Join me for a walk through the lovely South Bank Parklands in Brisbane, Australia.

It's a gorgeous spring day and hot enough to go for a swim! Did you bring your togs? The photo above features the beautiful Arbour made up of tendril-like columns of steel covered with brilliant magenta bougainvillea. Got your joggers? The Arbour winds through the centre of the parklands for about one kilometre (a bit less than a mile).

Covered in a mass of lovely daffodil-yellow blossoms, this tree is a common sight in Brisbane at this time of year.

Stunning red flowers set against a backdrop of clear blue skies.

If you love tropical trees, don't miss the lovely
Jacaranda's and magnificent Poinciana's. Will post as soon as they're in flower.

Beautiful! Jacarandas and poincianas are so beautiful! They grow and bloom further south in Florida. It gets too cold here for them in central Florida, but just 40 miles south of us they flourish. It's nice to know it is spring somewhere! Beautiful!

How beautiful, Kalianne! There's just something about the Spring Season -- it exudes so much life and freshness in everything! :)

Hope your day goes well for you!

Hi Mari, Fall in the mountains sounds beautiful, I imagine crisp night air, misty mornings, crackling fires. September is a lovely season here too. The days are warm and the breezes are balmy, perfect for getting out doors!

Hi Cynthia, I’m trying to imagine what the climate is like in central Florida. Perhaps it’s similar to 'North New South Wales' just further south of us, where it’s cooler – an almost perfect climate.

Hi Clarice, the flowering trees are stunning in this part of the world. We’ve lived here only 12 months - it’s all still a novelty for us!

Hi Janeen, the Arbour is lovely for walks, it winds its way beside the magestic Brisbane river at South Bank parklands. Inside the parklands are crystal clear lagoons for swimming and parks for barbeques and picnics.

Hi Pamela, I think you and Edward would very much enjoy a walk under the Arbour (yes South Bank is doggy friendly)!

Ivory Spring, there is so much to inspire in this season! The freshness of the spring rains, the new growth and budding trees - colors that could inspire many a quilted creation! ;-)

Ah, those pictures bring back fond memories of when my family and I used to live up your way.
Tasmania is altogether a picturesque site to behold too. Just different....closer to old England perhaps, with the green rolling hills, And charming old villages. Just now the spring bulbs are in full bloom and the cherry trees are beginging to blossoming...tis' indeed a pretty time of the year. If is definately my favourite season ...along with the rest. Praise God for the seasons.
Kind regards, Steven.

Hello Kalianne,

Hope you are doing well. I don't know --- I love the spring colors, and I love the fall colors too! :) I guess our Creator is just so artistic that every season has its signature colors!

I especially love the Jacaranda. I even love the name...

Sadly, those trees don't exist up here.

Hi Steven, welcome to Bygone Beauty! Tasmania sounds so pretty. I love spring bulbs and blossoming trees. Blessings, Kalianne.

Ivory Spring, it’s so beautiful to enjoy spring here and, through my friends in blogland, to experience the beauty of Fall too! Spring and Fall are my favorite times of the year!

Hi Karla, it’s extraordinary to think of the northern hemisphere in Fall while we experience Spring! One planet different seasons - the wonder of it! Have a wonderful Fall season!

Ah yes Lavinia, but what about Canada? Surely it must be the Autumn capital of the world? Why you’ve even got the emblem of an autumn leaf on your flag! We may attempt to grow autumn trees here but alas, their autumn foliage is either brown-green, brown-red or brown-yellow!

Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog and the lovely Goethe quotation you left there. In answer to your question, yes, that is me in the photo...taken the last time we were in the Lake District of England. Truly a sublime place!

Ivory Spring, rug up and stay warm! Do you have a White Christmas where you live?

Hi Kelli, spring in the tropics (if there is such a thing) is replete with stunning colours! Thanks for dropping by!
