Dear ones, we are finally connected to telephone and Internet! I am linked with the outside world again!
What a summer. The wildfires didn't reach us. We had high winds and temperatures, smoke and embers. But no fire. Further west the country is devastated. Our little sanctuary is safe. At least this for this year.
Look at these cute Tawny Frogmouth Owls- aren't they a sweet pair? We have one resident in our garden. By night she hunts for insects, taking little notice of us as we admire her.
It seems Providence requires us to stay in this remote wilderness area. Life here is a huge change from the bustling city. Our closest shopping centre (mall) is 4 hours away and requires an overnight stay! I'm learning to appreciate bulk buying and mail order!
It's so peaceful here. No cars, sirens or neighbourhood burnouts. Instead I can hear the birds in the forest and the wind whispering through the orchard.
Our life here is a miracle. We prayed for help at the beginning of the financial crisis last year. We dared not dream God would open doors to wilderness living (employment in the wilderness at such a time? Unthinkable). Our pace of life has now slowed. My husband's health is slowly returning. We have more time for each other and more time for communion with God. There is much to say about God's providences and tender care but will save for another time.
It's great to be back in blog land! Please say drop by and say hello!
Hugs,
Kalianne xo

WeLcOmE bAcK! Sounds like a wonderful life you are having. Something many of us can only dream about...slow, simple, peaceful, quiet days with nature surrounding. God is good. Sounds like He has taken you to a place of refuge for healing, wholeness, refreshing and restoring. I will look forward to hearing about your days. You've been missed.
Thank you for commenting on my blog! I can see that I'm going to enjoy yours and will add you to my blog list.
I look forward to getting to know you! :)
Hello Kalianne! I was so happy to see a note in my inbox this morning that you had posted to my blog...You have truly been missed. I am so glad to see that you are being richly blessed in your new wilderness living...The owls are beautiful.
Stop in for tea anytime:-)....
My family lives in that area and have kept me updated about the fires. They can smell the smoke but the fires are not near them. It was incredibly hot. I'm glad you love the country. I'm in the country and pray daily I never have to live in an apartment or in suburbia. I have always loved mail order and enjoyed trips to shop where you get everything so you can hybernate for months and sew and craft and cook and garden without interruption. Thanks for posting on my blog. Your owls are beautiful. We have cooing dove pairs here.
Oh I am sooo glad you are okay. Welcome back. Enjoy that land for us. Clarice

Hello Kalianne, welcome back....Thanks so much for stopping by the birdbath and letting me know of your return. These birds are so incredibly sweet, I'm enchanted!
Your life at present is so intriguing....I'm glad your other half is feeling better. Health and blessings and I look forward to learning more of your current experiences.
So glad you're back, Kalianne. I am so pleased too that your husband's health is improving and you're getting settled. God is good.
I'd love for you to read the poem I wrote as a response to the tragedy in Australia. I was so moved by what was going on in your country. Please find it under "After The Fire".
I'll be back soon.
Kat
Kat, thank you for writing a beautiful poem. It expresses the heart of rebuilding after tragedy.
It's still 'After the Fire' time in Australia. Although the Feb 7 fires are no longer in the media. People are dealing with grief and trying to make a new start.
The threat is still present also. We had a lightening storm two nights ago that started 24 new fires in our area. A fire-fighter friend (brave at 19 years of age) was nearly killed when the wind turned on him last night. He's back containing the fires today.
